#CHOOSE2BMORE

Girls Doing More is a Brighter Future For All of Us

ABOUT

Many of us know that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions we take. The purpose of the #CHOOSE2BMORE campaign is to foster collaboration and social awareness about the way we encourage girls to be anything and do anything

This website is here to provide focus on working together with parents, schools, universities, companies big & small, Governments and other NPO's to discuss strategies and design initiatives that are inclusive for girls and boys, teenagers and beyond to see it as normal for women's aspirations of doing anything to be achievable.

By working together we can overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch #CHOOSE2BMORE.

THE 'WHY, WHAT' & HOW'

Girls doing more is a brighter future for all of us

WHY - When girls are engaged in all the opportunities that boys might have for future careers & life opportunities; Human Innovation, Human Development and the world around us can be doubly enriched.

WHAT -  The language and actions we use as parents, aunts & uncles, teachers, siblings, carers and fellow humans to inspire our children changes depending on gender. What if our appetite for risk we have for boys to try things, reach for things or generally be encouraged to learn was equal for girls to do the same. Encouraging bravery regardless of gender and instilling a sense of security to be adventurous can foster great innovation that will create a brighter future for all of us - boys and girls together for better.

HOW - Collaborating with educators of all forms and levels of life, big companies, small companies, parents groups and governments - we can come together to create a movement to allow girls to be more; and for boys to see it as normal! Girls need parents, coaches, teachers & bosses to encourage them to take risks and chase dreams that are important to the girls, not to the adults.

When the World Economic Forum released a report stating that on current efforts gender parity could be reached in 208 years, we were inspired to make a change.

If half the worlds available workforce is encouraged and supported to feel free and confident that they will be rewarded equally for their efforts, knowledge and opinion then the future is brighter for all of us, male and female alike.

THE GIRLS WHO CHOSE MORE

Making A Difference

"WHAT IF YOUNG WOMEN, AROUND THE WORLD, WERE ENCOURAGED TO BE MORE, RATHER THAN LESS?"

&

"WHAT IF THE FOCUS SHIFTED FROM HOW WE APPEAR, TO THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT WE CAN DO?"

As we started to put our mindset towards how we can make a difference to our girls, the internet, as always, provided - A TED Talk from Melbourne in 2016 by Jade Hameister started us on the path to writing our script for the #CHOOSE2BMORE campaign. An awesome girl who has inspired us as parents and hopefully our girls to feel supported in choosing to be more

In a world where the pursuit of someone else's idea of perfection is based on girls 'eating less & wearing less', the campaign  #CHOOSE2BMORE is about working with girls & boys, parents, teachers & mentors to help buck this trend!

NINA MORAN

"WORKING WITH CHILDREN WAS SUPER FUN...THEY DON'T HAVE AN IDEA YET THAT SOMEBODY CAN'T DO SOMETHING BECAUSE OF THIS OR IS NOT ALLOWED TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE OF THAT!"

The girls who made their own 'Kitchen'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

With our organisation's mission - SEE it, BELIEVE it & BE it - always in mind, we found that Nina's experience of only finding true friends when she found her girl skater posse and being laughed at by boys who were jealous of her skills, they had the collective strength to choose to be more.

When we started putting clothing lines together at iOLa & eFFi Ltd. we knew that girls having the choice to show they like to skate and be a girl at the skate park with what they wear, would help more girls to find their tribe and have the courage to pick each other up when they fall. But more than this its about the confidence girls need to be the only one at the football camp, or the rugby field and still want to play. The inner strength and beauty of perseverance and courage is what we want to celebrate with the #CHOOSE2BMORE campaign.

In 2020 iOLa & eFFI Ltd. will hope to bring out a line of clothing inspired by Nina and the Skate Kitchen posse. Check out their film trailer online - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwIGBQ5UTHw

"YOU CANNOT BE WHAT YOU DON'T SEE"

 &

"WE NEED TO CLOSE THE BRAVERY GAP, WE NEED TO TEACH GIRLS BRAVERY, NOT PERFECTION"

&

"DON'T LET MY FAILURE STOP YOU FROM TRYING"

Closing the bravery gap for girls to be the foundation of the Digital Age

Through social media and face-to-face group discussions, our hope is for the #CHOOSE2BMORE campaign can champion the amazing work that is already ongoing in the US with the Girls who Code movement. But its more than that - its about how we talk to girls about them feeling supported to be brave and fail, get up and try again. Its not the way you fail that counts its the response that counts.

Subtle changes in language that we use at school and at home to encourage risk taking & bravery in girls can have a huge influence on young girls from the age of 4 or 5. With a focus on the right terms & inspirational vocab, girls can feel empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential, without feeling the pressures to pursue perfection.

How this translates onto clothing is researched here - at #CHOOSE2BMORE we want to align with these great researchers and bloggers like Anna Cermokova to bring this information to as wide a population as we can.
